An ex-president and ex-mp becomes trustee of the Chamber

Me Gilles Ouimet is the new trustee of the Chamber of financial security.

He began his duties today, learned of the insurance Journal. Me Ouimet holds expertise in disciplinary law and ethics, as well as in the field of economic crime.

Over the course of his career, he has successively held the functions of chairman of the Bar of Montreal and the Barreau du Québec. He was also member of provincial parliament for the liberal Party of Quebec, representing the county of Fabre in Laval, from 2012 to 2015.

On the social network LinkedIn, he said on 1st December last year : “there will be a change in my professional life over the next few days. A new stimulating challenge. To follow ! “

“Maintain high standards of practice”

Now that his appointment has been formalized, he said he is proud to join the Chamber, recalling that the role of the latter in respect of the protection of the public was confirmed by the legislature.

“The supervision of conduct and the discipline by the peer are in my eyes among the surest guarantors of the competence and ethics of certified professionals. In addition, I have the deep conviction that the guidance of conduct helps maintain high standards of practice within the industry. It is with great enthusiasm that I will bring my contribution, ” commented Me Ouimet.

Marie Elaine Farley, CEO of the Chamber, says that the profile of Me Ouimet corresponds well with the objectives of renewal of the organization she leads. “His experience will bring a special dimension to our plans for the future, at a time when the Chamber is undertaking several projects to adapt to the new realities,” she commented.

Lysane Tougas served as an interim trustee before the appointment of Me Ouimet.
