A report ofAon Benfield estimated that the total economic loss caused by hurricane Florence will exceed 10 billion u.s. dollars (G$ US). It is expected that the share of insured losses to be low due to the low adoption of the flood insurance.

The analysis firm states that the actual evaluation of the damage will take months to complete. The floods are identified as the main source of damage.

Hurricane Florence made landfall in North Carolina on the 14th of September last. The balance sheet account for at least 53 people have died, directly or indirectly, according to Aon. The South Carolina and Virginia have also suffered damage related to the hurricane.

In September, Guy Carpenter had estimated that the damage could reach 22 billion US dollars and insured losses are estimated to be between 2.5 and 5 G US$.
