A hundred Quebec municipalities have joined the grouping in liability insurance for their “parks rouli-rolling, tracks of BMX and amenities similar to” theUnion of municipalities of Quebec (UMQ). The grouping, formed in 2005, allows municipalities to cope with the major risks linked to this kind of structure.

A tender had been launched by the UMQ last January in order to find the best bid. It is finally BFL Canada which will provide the municipalities until may 2024. The contract has been accepted by the executive council of the UMQ last week.

Note that the insurance company had already obtained the contract from 2014 to 2019.

Limit increase in liability insurance

According to an independent analysis of the bidding process, the price offered by BFL Canada is 10% cheaper than the previous one, but is always there to provide what the municipalities need.

“The coverage in insurance available to cover all property damage, bodily injuries and personal injuries suffered in these types of equipment,” says the UMQ.

The Union of municipalities of Quebec adds, however, that the saving is used to increase their limit in terms of liability insurance. “By prudence, and taking into account the recent case law on claims personal injuries, the members have chosen to use one part of the economy obtained in order to raise $ 5 million to $ 10 million in coverage. “

All will serve to limit the financial impact of claims, and this, for the whole of the constituency, said the UMQ.
