At least 23 people have died in the disaster, out of which the winds have reached 280 kilometers an hour. Several communities in the States of Georgia, Florida and South Carolina were also affected by a dozen more small tornadoes.

The tornado was part of a broader storm system that has led to heavy rains across parts of the Mid-Atlantic and northeast.

The damage to the tornado amounted in the hundreds of millions, evaluates Aon.
