Travel insurance : THiA launches online training

Thecanadian Association of travel insurance (THiA) has launched its Travel Insurance Program (TRIP), an online training on the travel insurance.

Developed by the department of education of THiA, the program was “created by the industry, for the industry,” said Adrienne Simic, spokesperson for the association, in an interview to the Journal of the insurance.

Nine modules

It will take approximately 10 hours for each participant to complete the nine capsules interactive, which make up the TRIP. Program : courses on the travel insurance products, pricing and underwriting, sale and distribution, assistance and claims, the regulations or the code of ethics and fraud.

The association indicates that the program of studies is intended for financial advisors selling travel insurance, travel agents, and travel assistance, or even to students and individuals wishing to move into this area.

A certification to the key

Those who complete the training and successfully completing the final examination will receive a certification in travel insurance. This certification does not act as a license to carry. It is a tool for the professionals wishing to demonstrate their knowledge and earn the trust of the travelers.

“We want that this certification will become a standard top in the industry of travel insurance. We want the consumer to know that you can purchase travel insurance from a vendor certified, ” Ms. Simic.

The training cost between 99 and 225 $ and can earn continuing education credits in certain canadian provinces. It is for the moment available only in English.
